BMI songwriter Lance Carpenter performs in Songs from the Sand virtual concert series June 16

What: The Lee County Visitor & Convention Bureau (VCB), iHeartMedia and Cat Country 107.1 welcome Lance Carpenter to the Songs from the Sand virtual concert series at The Westin Cape Coral Resort at Marina Village in Cape Coral. The privately recorded event, hosted by VCB Communications Manager Jackie Parker, will feature Carpenter’s music and stories behind the songs.

Who: Lance Carpenter, a BMI singer-songwriter known for “Love Me Like You Mean It,” (2014) a No. 1 song he co-wrote with and performed by Kelsea Ballerini. But before this big-hearted Arkansas farm kid had any success in music, he chose a career of service to others. He got a job with the state of Arkansas after he graduated from Arkansas Tech University and subsequently with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), where he worked to support those affected by dozens of disasters, including Hurricane Katrina. Amid the considerable stress and turmoil of the job, he found that through songwriting, the music he loved was able to quiet his mind. Carpenter moved to Nashville in 2011 and, within 18 months, he signed his first publishing deal. His albums include his self-titled debut album “Lance Carpenter” (2013), “Hay Days” (2015) and “Mustang” (2018). “The Demo Sessions” album (2021) included the hit “You’re Beautiful.” He’s performed with Toby Keith, Luke Bryan, Justin Moore and Randy Rogers Band.  

A three-time veteran performer of Island Hopper Songwriter Fest, Carpenter is scheduled to perform again as part of the 10-day showcase, Sept. 16-25.

Why: Songs from the Sand features singer-songwriters who will be performing at Island Hopper Songwriter Fest, Sept. 16-25, on Captiva Island, historic downtown Fort Myers and Fort Myers Beach. 

Background: Songs from the Sofa debuted in May 2020 with music sensation Sam James. The monthly live performances have included Jay Allen, Maia Sharp, Dave Pahanish, Ben Allen, Clint Daniels, Parmalee, Danny Myrick, Bridget Tatum, Hannah Ellis, Julia Cole, Ruthie Collins, Kristen Kelly and Hailey Steele. All performances are archived on the Island Hopper Songwriter Fest Instagram page. 

Songs from the Sand debuted in February 2021 with local favorite and Island Hopper alum Sheena Brook at the Pink Shell Beach Resort & Marina on Fort Myers Beach. In May, Devin Dawson performed at DiamondHead Beach Resort. Sheena Brook made another appearance with Angie K at Pinchers at The Marina at Edison Ford in August. Frank Myers was the guest performer in April at Luminary Hotel & Co. in downtown Fort Myers. Songs from the Sand gives music lovers a chance to see the beautiful beaches and surrounding areas of Southwest Florida.
