Lee County Tourist Development Council welcomes new chair

December 12, 2019

LEE COUNTY, Fla. – The Lee Board of County Commissioners (BoCC) appointed Commission Chairman Brian Hamman as chair of the Tourist Development Council (TDC) at the TDC’s regularly scheduled meeting Thursday, Dec. 12. The chairmanship becomes effective immediately.

“I’m excited to serve on the TDC along with some of our top tourism industry leaders. Survey after survey list our area as one of the top destinations in the country and I’m looking forward to continuing that level of success,” Hamman said. “We have a great team in place, and I’m excited to see our area become the year-round destination of choice.”

A Lee County native, Hamman graduated from Cape Coral High School, attended Florida SouthWestern State College and earned his bachelor’s degree in communications from Florida Gulf Coast University.

Hamman and his wife, Rebecca, live in Cape Coral with their two children, Kaitlyn and Jacob. He is active in the community, serving on various boards and volunteering at his church, Crosspoint Christian.

Hamman, who was named BoCC chairman Nov. 19, replaces TDC Chairman and Lee County Commissioner Cecil Pendergrass. Hamman previously served as TDC chair for a year in 2014-2015. The nine-member TDC was established as an advisory board to the BoCC in 1983 to increase off-season tourism in Lee County.
